The news that 2024 will have another iteration of Topps Chrome Black has come to light, and boy are these cards beautiful! Mark your calendars for April 17th, when this officially launches. These cards are great looking, but unfortunately we don’t know who’ll be in it beyond Elly de la Cruz, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Evan Carter, Jasson Dominguez and other big rookies and stars as the checklist has not been released. There is one encased autographed card guaranteed per 4-card box (12 boxes per case). What we DO know about this products’ checklist is that it consists of a 100-card base set, and has the following parallels. Refractors, Purple Mini-Diamond (/150), Green (/99), Green Wave (/99), Blue (/75), Blue Lava (/75), Gold (/50), Gold Mini-Diamond (/50), Orange (/25), Rose Gold (/15), Magenta (/10), Red (/5) and 1/1 Superfractors — a slightly larger lineup. Also back will be rookie design variations (one per case) that will only have Red and Supers for parallels. There will be four types of autographs here — Chrome Black, Ivory autos (/TBD) Pitch Black dual autos (/TBD) and Super Futures (/99). The standard ink will have Refractors (/150), Green (/99), Gold (/50), Gold Mini-Diamond (/50), Orange (/25), Red (/5) and 1/1 Superfractors just like last time, while the Futures cards will only have Gold, Orange, Red and Supers at the same volumes. Ivory autos will have Gold Trim (/25), Red Trim (/5) and 1/1 Superfractor versions. Duals will have Gold Trim (/20), Red Trim (/5) and 1/1 Supers. A new chase insert here will be found one in every five cases — Depth of Darkness — a “layered Chrome” with Red (/5) and 1/1 Super parallels.
There’s no doubt that these will be fun to rip, I can’t imagine that there will be less that 20 or so Rookies to chase, and the encapsulated autographs are always nice to look at. Three weeks away!
