LF/OF Taylor Trammell spent most of his 2024 season with the Yankees Triple-A affiliate, but whether or not the Yankees win or lose the 2024 World Series, he will walk away a Champion. Yes, he may have only had one hit at the Major League level, for an average of .143, but he also did something that nobody else did this season. He represented both World Series teams during the regular season (12 Innings of Outfield for the Dodgers, 9.1 Innings of Outfield for the Yankees).
Trammell’s Major League story actually begins in Seattle (Where he actually had some postseason experience), but they designated him for assignment on March 28th, where the Dodgers saw an opportunity to grab him on April 2nd and activate him on their Major League roster. LA was quick to DFA Trammell, he was gone by April 16th. This is where New York steps in, claiming him on the 18th, and activating him on their Major League roster the next day. Trammell stuck around a little longer at the Major League level in NY, but was DFA’d for a third time in the 2024 season on May 4th, and nobody chose to claim him.
Taylor waived goodbye for the rest of the season, choosing to be outrighted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to be a RailRider in the Minors for the rest of the season. If there’s anybody who’s glad they were ever DFA’d three times in a season, it’ll be Taylor Trammell as he walks away with a World Series ring engraved with either NYY or LA on it in 2025. All for a total of 21.1 Innings of Outfield play and a single hit.
