Who We Are

Jaime Cook – CEO and Co-founder

I bought my first pack of baseball cards in 1981 at Buckworths, a small corner store around the block from my childhood house in Elkton, MD. For some reason, I decided I liked the Phillies. I honestly didn’t even know Philadelphia was only an hour away from me at the time, as it may as well have been 3000 miles.

I spent every penny I had (and many I didn’t) on baseball cards pretty much all the way up until I started dating. I then took several very long breaks until rediscovering them again during the pandemic in 2020.

My uncle took my cousins and I to my first Phillies game (and several more after) when I was in middle school. I remember being in awe of the field when I came out of the tunnel of Veteran’s Stadium. I’m very fortunate to have my wife Lillian who not only tolerates my hobbies but encourages them! I’ve probably been to a hundred games now and been to over half of the Major League stadiums and I still get a thrill walking in each and every time.

Likewise, I still get excited ripping open a pack of cards, new or old. A pack of 1985 Topps excites me as much as a pack of 2022 Bowman!

The thrill of walking into a stadium or ripping open a pack of cards is what inspired my latest venture, DJAWN!

It’s a project I’m very passionate about and allows me to express a different side of my geek-dom.

The year was 1981. The place was Yankee stadium. I was at my first baseball game. I had no clue what the game was all about. Didn’t know who players like Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield, Willie Randolph or Ron Guidry were. Can’t remember the score, who the Yankees played, or if they won the game. What I do remember though is walking through huge crowds of people exiting the stadium singing “New York New York”. It was a great experience and it’s what got me into baseball. I became a Yankee fan from that day onwards. It’s also the day that my addiction to baseball statistics was born. I spent many years obsessing over stats for players both new and old. I made my mom buy folders (for school) that look like baseball cards just so I can ignore my teachers and look at stats in class. Fast forward to now, I am pleased to say life has given me the opportunity to work very closely on something I am very passionate about. Introducing DJAWN.
