That’s right, if you know, you know. This years Update Chrome is now available in Hobby, Breaker’s Delight, and Jumbo Hobby boxes which come with 1, 2, and 3 autographs per box. This is no longer a retail-only product! But that also means you’ll be paying the Hobby prices, rather than $25-35 a blaster box. The breakdown for those different boxes are as follows: Hobby cases are 6 boxes, 24 packs per box, 4 cards per pack, and 1 guaranteed autograph; Jumbo Hobby cases are 8 boxes, 12 packs per box, 13 cards per pack, 3 guaranteed autographs; Breaker’s Delight is 1 pack per box, 12 card per pack, with 2 guaranteed autographs. The set release date for this product is November 15th, 2023.

To begin, Topps has provided collectors with a few new parallels in the Hobby-only Green Refractors (#/99) and Gold Mini Diamond Refractors (#/50) as well as the Jumbo-only FrozenFractors (#/5). Along with the base set, this years Update Chrome has the following parallels: Refractors, Prism Refractors, Negative Refractors (limited), Magenta Refractor (#/399), Magenta/Purple Lava Lamp Refractor (#/275), Purple Refractor (#/250), Aqua Refractor (#/199), Aqua/Blue Lava Lamp Refractor (#/175), Blue Refractor (#/150), Blue/Green Lava Lamp Refractor (#/125), Green Refractor (#/99 – Hobby only), Gold Refractor (#/50), Gold Mini Diamond Refractor (#/50 – Hobby only), Orange Refractor (#/25), Red/Orange Lava Lamp Refractor (#/10), Red Refractor (#/5), FrozenFractors (#/5 – Jumbo only), SuperFractor (1/1), Printing Plates (1/1).

Following the growing rainbow of Refractors, we have the chase inserts featuring “Lets Go”, “Exposé”, “Radiating Rookies”, “Celebración” (#/99), and “Diamond Dominance” that are either “limited” or “super limited”. The ultimate chase insert is the 25-card set called “Crushed”, with some of MLBs hardest hitting players, falling 1 per case. Other insert sets that aren’t so rare include the “1988 Topps Baseball”, “2023 All-Star Game”, “Action Stars”, and “Future Stars” which all fall at 1:6 packs. The “Titans” insert sets continues with new names, falling at 1:12 packs. The “Youthquake” insert adds another 50 new names to its continued set from earlier in the year.

Now on to why we’re mostly here, the autographs. This years product will feature a base 167-card set of autographs, a 25-card “Legend” autograph set, 19-card “Topps 1988” autograph set, 34-card “2023 All-Star Game” autograph set, 16-card “Action Stars” autograph set #’d to 25, 9-card “Future Stars” autograph set numbered to 99 or less, 9-card “Dual Autographs” set #’d to 10 or less, 12-card “Triple Autographs” set #’d to 10 or less, and finally the new 91-card “MLB Debut Patch Autograph” set numbered 1/1. These 91 Players all wore a special “MLB Debut” patch on their jersey in the first game that they played in as they debuted in 2023. This will be the one and only relic/auto in the entire product. Happy hunting!
