June Player Award Predictions!

Last time I did this, I wrote a lengthy article. This time, we’ll get straight to the point, quick and easy for you readers! So we’ll be starting off with the American League and finishing with the National League, for those who care more for the NL, you can scroll right on to that section.

American League

  • Player of the Month – (NYY) Aaron Judge was far and away the best player in June, hitting .409/.515/.864 in 25 Games. He hit 11HR while driving in an AL-best 37RBI.
  • Rookie of the Month – (TEX) Wyatt Langford returned from an injury sustained in early May and lived up to the hype in June while hitting .309, 3HR and driving in 22RBI. He also had 6 Doubles and 3 Triples, as well as 6 Stolen Bases.
  • Pitcher of the Month – (CHI) Garrett Crochet was tied for most Starts in June for the American League with 6, but only came out with a 1-1 record as the White Sox have been the worst team in the AL. Crochet is ripe for trading this year, but is still in Chicago, finishing June with a 1.91ERA and 56K in just 37.2IP. The Southpaw is a strikeout machine, and a contender could send Chicago a big package of prospects in return for his services.
  • Reliever of the Month – (LAA) Carlos Estevéz of the Angels turned a corner in June, after a rough start to the season. He had 8 Saves in 8 Opportunities and finished the month with an ERA of 0.00 all while grabbing a Win, as well. He also struck out 10 Batters over 10 Innings pitched while walking nobody.

National League

  • Player of the Month – (PHI) Although he landed on the 10-day IL just before the end of the month, Bryce Harper was so far ahead of everyone (yes, even Shohei Ohtani), that he should walk away with the June POTM honors. He slashed .374/.452/.714 while hitting 7HR an driving in 16RBI and walking 13 times. He had a total of 17 XBH because of his 10 Doubles in June alone, finishing off with his season slash line raised to an elite .309/.399/.981, putting him in the All Star Game and NL MVP discussion.
  • Rookie of the Month – (SDP) While having a fairly average May, Jackson Merrill showed why the Padres wanted him in the first round of the 2021 Draft. Hitting .320/.346/.650 while bopping 9HR and driving in 20RBI all while flashing the leather, Merrill is making an argument for NL ROY honors.
  • Pitcher of the Month – (PHI) The Philly rotation keeps on dominating, and this month was Cristopher Sanchez’s turn. He turned in a 3-0 record in 5 Starts, throwing 33 Innings with a Complete Game Shutout and a spectacular 1.64ERA and 23 Strikeouts on the month.
  • Reliever of the Month – (MIL) The Brewers’ late inning specialist Bryan Hudson led the charge in this one, having a perfect month of June. In 12 Innings of work he had 14 Strikeouts and only surrendered 1 free pass. Lowering his season ERA to a miniscule 0.82, Hudson could be called on to hand the baton to Trevor Megill, the teams’ main Closer.
